Hulkesteinse Bos

Last time visiting, the only place that seemed to be part of this park was directly under some power lines or on a campground (private property) so we bailed and moved on. This time though, having investigated the park boundaries more closely on the Staatsbosbeheer (national park management) page, we found an okay out of the way place to set up.

This was a simple activation using the quarter-wave whip and radials. Propagation was unexpectedly great and worked Canada as the first call and a lot of Brits (who complimented me on the audio quality of the G90, that’s a first!). 16 SSB QSOs total.

Switched to CW after a while and got some more people in the log. A US station reached out (W4S?) but a Belarusian (EW6X) reached out and I guess the American thought I didn’t hear him.

Also I finally got Oystein in the log, LB8IJ or Ham Radio Passion on YouTube. He makes videos about CW, POTA in Norway, and some technical tidbits. I enjoy them.

Here’s the stream starting at the time of the QSO. It was really short (<40 seconds) but I still get easily stressed out by all the dits and dahs and I try not to give people space to start a ragchew.
