A short activation on the way to work.
There’s a really solid metal fence around the parking which provides a great place to tie a mast to. Which is what I did and combined it with the 10m EFHW. Because I parked a little close at first I had to lean the mast backwards to get the antenna a little more straight and the SWR back down to acceptable levels.
Terrible reception again, it must be the space weather (or the fact that my antenna is sloping). A 42 report from the UK but 59s across Eastern Europe. I got 9 contacts before things quieted down again. I then jumped onto CW for the last two QSOs. Copying callsigns went a lot better, only a few repeats were necessary, but the ‘fluff’ is still too hard to copy, I can get the signal report and the TU
and 73
though!
When entering the callsigns, there were a few that I had talked to before, pretty fun to see the same people reaching out over multiple weeks. Also, for some reason Greek contacts always really excite me, I love Greece as a holiday destination :-).
It was the first time people asked me what I was doing and I had a chance to talk to them about amateur radio (and the difference with CB). They were pretty nice.
