A new attempt.
Last time here, I got only six “QSO”s, of which four were the same French station but with a unique Park-to-Park identifier. So in reality just three.
Turns out my long 10m coax run was a little off, and most activations where I had used that cable had terrible results. Measuring resistance with a multimeter between the coax center and the mantle had fluctuating resistance between infinite and only a few Ohms… To try and solve this I had cut and resoldered the connectors earlier that week, so I wanted to get out and give it a try.
Also I bunched together some parts so I could set up the 18-foot whip antenna on the car, which makes deploying pretty easy but leaves some SWR issues (lowest point is about a 1.5:1). I was inspired by the trailer hitch mount by PA4PA
.
I hunted some CW/SSB QSOs on 10m, then set up for CW on 14060.5
, but gave up after about four takers and then silence. Anyway, I finally got the park properly activated with 14 valid QSOs.
